Founded in 2008 by Lucas Gray, DC Moving Company set out with a clear goal — to make moving easier and more reliable, while striving to become the top choice for moving services in the Washington, D.C area.

Key Milestones

2010-2013: DC Moving Company started in 2008, focusing on local residential moves. Positive word-of-mouth led to requests from businesses and students. Trust and reliability were key.
2014-2017: In 2014, we added packing, unpacking, and storage. In 2016, we handled our first office move and introduced item insurance.
2018-2019: We launched online booking in 2018 and began offering long-term storage and trial interstate moves in 2019.
2020-2021: We implemented no-contact moves and prioritized urgent relocations for seniors and healthcare workers.
2022-2023: We expanded to new metro areas and upgraded equipment. We completed our first cross-country move in 2023.
2024: In 2024, we focused on quality over growth, serving repeat clients and offering insured, full-service moves.
